A muse and the zoo

October 16th, 2006

So I’ve had this problem lately. Call it writing ADD. Call it laziness, lack of motivation, lack of discipline–the latter probably is the best diagnosis. Regardless, I’ve opened and sincerely intended to put absolute effort into three different manuscripts in the last week, and have failed miserably to do more than read, make more notes and maybe….maybe write a few pages on anything.

So, Sunday, we got to the zoo. We have a small, local zoo that we try to visit a few times a season–mainly to convince ourselves our meager admission and the bit we spend in the gift shop helps to feed and care for those animals. Truth is, my family is a buncha softies and we just love the animals, especially the big cats.

I really, really do blame Jaci for the thought of taking the muse, though. I was chatting with several of my pals, including her, and she says… research. Research? I cleared my throat and thought, is she insane? C’mon, I write erotic romance most of the time. We call research the stuff we do in private…

But then she whispered (as best one can do on IM) “Shapeshifter”.

Damn her.

I’m writing. The muse is laughing and pointing and I’m writing.

Oh, and here’s a picture from the zoo.
(it’s too big to embed in the post)
