How I spent the last Friday night of 2006

December 29th, 2006

Exciting title, eh? Thought of it myself.

Well, it really is the vaguest way to title this post, cuz it’s gonna be all over the place.

I’m having issues with Christmas being over and the New Year breathing down my throat. You see, I live in an area that usually has a foot of snow on the ground by now and it’s flippin’ damn near 50* outside. Not a flake in sight. Now, that seems odd talk for a self-professed hater of cold weather, but by golly gee darnit, it just CAN’T be the holidays without snow.
Yet, they say, it is.

This being the case, I really haven’t done much thinking about the new year and new resolutions, other than that yanked it outta my backside Thursday Thirteen blog I did yesterday at butt-crack-of-dawn-o’clock. Even that was a jolt to my senses. How can it be, already?

But, but….that means my Quickie, SeXTC will be out like in… less than two weeks? No. Can’t be. *pulls up little ‘puter calendar cuz you guessed, I haven’t BOUGHT a 2007 calendar. Denial anyone?* *Hyperventilates* Yeah, You can have your very own copy of SeXTC in less than 2 weeks. (Has a complete meltdown when remembering the final line edits are in my inbox….buried beneath jokes and unread digests and blog comment notifications. Oh…crap!)

Anyway, as soon as I finish this post, I’m gonna make nice and HOPEFULLY my editor hasn’t yanked all her hair out wondering if I forgot about them.

Okay, back on track. What else have I done tonight? Oh, well, I got this ARC from this really cool cat named Nalini Singh. Heard of her? She’s awesome. I to her. I just finished VISIONS OF HEAT. Oh so good! Thank you so much, Nalini, for allowing me the sneak peek. I’ve made a bunch of notes about my impression of the book and will post them closer to release date. Which I think is March, for those of you who want to know. This is the second book, following SLAVE TO SENSATION which totally blew my mind. Wow. (Nothing like becoming a gushing fangirl, eh? But honestly, the woman has talent, is very nice and deserves the kudos.)

After that, my tangent-tempted mind wandered off in search of new icons/smilies for the blog. Oh, and I actually categorized some previous posts. I had been a bad, bad girl. But, as for new smilies, I found three before giving up and wandering off in another direction. Here they are!

Those who’ve read Brand Name Dates might remember that Benny had a tattoo of Marvin Martian. I LOVE Marvin. That scene was actually one of the first I wrote for that book. I was enamored with Benny from the beginning, and his tat, and his story behind it, just tickled me. So when I saw this, I had to have it…

Just cuz.

cuz I’m still having that “where is my snow” feeling. Hrmph.

Finally, I update the sidebar and changed my “featured book” to be SeXTC, for obvious reasons. Then I realized I didn’t have an excerpt up on the page and *gets trampled* Um, yeah, okay, so you were missing the excerpt. My bad. (again). That’s the “clean” excerpt that will show up at Ellora’s Cave once it goes live, so stay tuned and I might put up a “naughty” excerpt soon!

Okay, I’d better go do those line edits before guilt strangles me. After all this there had BETTER be a Hersheys with Caramel left in the candy drawer or I’m gonna be one cranky girl.

My girls were worried that Santa wouldn’t come because there was no snow. Now they’re just happy that they can go outside and play. I’m just worried that summer will be harsh because of the winter being mild.

And SeXTC is fantastic. I loved it, loved it. Can’t wait for it to release!

I can’t believe you haven’t bought a calendar, woman. I actually have an extra. We should talk before you go get one.

May you enjoy a bright and happy New Year, Melani, filled with great joy; the comforting warmth of love; good health and wellbeing; the delight of true friendship; and enough of whatever you want and need to fulfill your deepest dreams and desires.

Thank you for being a part of my life this past year and making it so much richer!

I live in eastern Canada and we have a dusting of snow and that’s it. Driving me nuts! Your quickie sounds awesome, I’ll make sure to grab it!
