Decipher this Dream

January 12th, 2007

So I wake up this morning say NO WAY did that alarm clock just go off! I was in the middle of a dream, a weird one. Too weird. So I’ll share….

It started in this dark apartment above a bar where I was “living” with my mother and sister (tho’ the people there weren’t really my relatives at all). The lady-masquerading-as-my-mother was drunk. My sister and I were getting ready for school. Only I was putting on a very formal corset-top, train and all, wedding dress. (It was gorgeous!) Because of the time it took to put it on and get the corset part tightened (mom’s drunk. “no mom, don’t tie, pull, you know, like lacing your shoes. My boobs are gonna fall out if you don’t tie it tighter”)

Anyway, It was dark, cold and snowing. Very icky winter day. I had on high heels, no pantyhose and this big formal dress. I missed the bus, so I went into the bar to see if I could con a ride to my car (which in my dream I knew was my mother’s car, but rationale said she shouldn’t be driving anyway so it wouldn’t matter if I used it). I knew the people who were sitting there in the bar in my dream, but have no idea who they were. Three men and a woman, and the bartender were there. I asked the woman first. She was the complete opposite of me–I was in this pristine wedding dress (and headpiece) and she looked like she’d been in the bar all night, smeared makeup, mussed half-grown out bleached hair and clothes askew. She was smoking, and I kept backing up to keep her from destroying my dress. The men kept laughing at my shoes, saying I shouldn’t be out without boots on.

Then the dream jumped. I’m still in wedding dress, but I’m in the car with this drunk lady, telling her I don’t want to go to school, that the whole reason I dressed up that way was to go over to my friend Mandy’s house and freak her out. This lady doesn’t want to drive me there, but I can’t get her to turn around and drive me back to the car. Somehow there are pockets in my wedding dress (convenient, eh?) and in them I had a phone, my debit cards, house keys and something else…money, maybe?.

So she drops me in front of the school, but I don’t go in, I start walking. (And suddenly it’s not cold, snowy winter anymore, it’s warm and the sun is hot in that big ole dress).

[now, I need to explain 2 things... Mandy lives 5-6 hours from me, yet in my dream, it was maybe an hour? Dreams are weird. Second thing, I "knew" in my dream person's mind, the reason I had gotten all dressed up was because Mandy and I had been on the phone and I helped her figure something out and she had jokingly said, "Oh my God, I love you and want to marry you." I knew it was a joke, just a make-you-laugh expression of gratitude, but wanted to screw with her head anyway. In real life, that convo never happened. Don't get freaked out, Mandy, I so would never do this....]

Somehow (during one of those unexplanable time/space drops that occur in dreams) I ended up in a park in the next town, sitting on the steps of a library (that doesn’t exist) and waiting for a ride. That ride came in the form of a beat up red pickup truck and was driven by someone named Todd. He was very young (somehow I was still my age in my dream, despite the living with mom and going to school part) and the familiarity led me to believe he was the son of someone I or my husband knows. Yet I don’t know anyone named Todd. He wasn’t who I called, but I guess that’s who was “sent” to rescue me. He was uber shy and didn’t talk.

He drove me about half way to my destination and stopped on this county road between two cornfields. I got out there and sat on a blanket and FINALLY called Mandy. I wasn’t going to tell her I was coming, just get a feel for what she was doing. She was all harried and said she had to take one of her kids somewhere then she had something to do with Corey or Carrie–like a tupperware-kinda show.

Which meant it was useless for me to persue going any farther. I had this Todd kid, who clearly thought I was insane, drive me back to the nearest town, where I got a teeny-tiny rental car. Before I left that town tho’, I stopped at this convention center where they were having some kind of weird watch auction. Everyone was trading watches and, oh, it was too bizarre. That’s when the alarm went off.

So? Any takers? What the heck could all this mean, other than I really need to lay off the mountain dew right before bed?

I’m uhh, umm, not home. Yeah, no home. That’s it.

I’m a good influence. OUCH..who zapped me? I am. Ouch. Okay, maybe I’m not that good of one. *snicker*

I could comment on the Todd giving you a ride but I’m pretty sure you’d delete my post.
