Bon Voyage!
I’ve been even more absent the last week or so helping my daughter (and us!) prepare for her departure. She leaves for basic training, Army Reserve, tomorrow.
I’m still shaking my head, wondering how the hell time went so fast. If you’re inclined, say a prayer for her safety and success. I’m sure I’ll update when I’ve heard from her, and of course, when she comes home end of August.
I figured I’ll dive deep into writing to keep my mind off the fact she’s gone. An empty house will take some getting used to. The hardest part won’t be that she’s gone, but that she’s not simply a phone call away.
I’ll try to post a pic of her in uniform when I get one.
Ack! Already? *sniff* She’s going to do great, ya know. And she’ll come back all mature and self confident.

I feel like a total tool. I haven’t been over here in so long, was feeling semi-nostalgic and missing my buddies and decided to check in on you to see how you were.
Wow.
My oldest is 17 and his friend just left yesterday for basic training. You can tell the girl if a boy named Landon approaches her that he’s harmless, really. We’re hoping it changes him for the better because he sure needed something. I’m proud of your girl and proud of you for letting her venture out into something like this. I was in the Air Force and it was a honor. It’ll make her stand a little straighter, appreciate her mom and dad a little more, give her a total sense of pride and boost her confidence. I know it did me. If you need anything, I’m an email away.
Miss you, my friend!
Rae
